This authentic German Eastern Front Medal (Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42) is a fine example of the award issued to Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS personnel who served in the brutal conditions of the Russian winter campaign. Commonly referred to as the “Ostmedaille” or “Winter Battle Medal”, it was instituted on May 26, 1942, to recognize those who endured the extreme cold and harsh combat of the Eastern Front during Operation Barbarossa.

This medal remains in very good condition, retaining its original detail. It features a zinc-based construction with a darkened finish, showcasing the distinctive design: the Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika above a crossed sword and laurel wreath, symbolizing the struggle and sacrifice of German forces.
